A shooting rampage Sunday in Nova Scotia, Canada, killed at least 10 people including a policewoman, detectives stated, adding that the shooter also passed away.

The lone shooter, 51- year-old Gabriel Wortman, “moved across the northern part of the province and committed what appears to be a number of murders,” Royal Canadian Mounted Cops [RCMP] Chief Superintendent Chris Leather said. A possible intention was unclear. At one point, he apparently disguised himself as a policeman, private investigators included.

At least one officer died and another suffered injuries, according to Brian Sauvé, the president of the National Police Federation union.

Investigators stated previously that they took Wortman into custody prior to later adding that he died. They did not give specifics.

Police stated the incident began late Saturday in the small town of Portapique, at first reporting ” multiple victims” and explaining the suspect as potentially camouflaged as a mountie.

Wortman’s name was launched about nine hours after an initial tweet around midnight asking individuals to prevent the Portapique area and remain inside as officers responded to a guns problem.
