TROY, Mich. (Video from WNEM via CNN) —

A Michigan couple has finally been able to meet and hold their newborn twin boys.

The new parents had to be quarantined at home for weeks because they were both diagnosed with coronavirus, WNEM-TV reported.

Jen Laubach prematurely gave birth to twin boys earlier this month.

The night before she went into labor, her husband, Andre, came down with a violent cough.

“The look on his face just told me, ‘I want to go there, you know, go and be there for you, but I physically can’t,'” she told the TV station.

She later learned that she also had the virus.

Their boys, Maksim and Mitch, were born healthy, but they were too premature to go home right away.

“They basically took them away to the other side of the room right away, maybe 15 feet away from me,” she said. “Started cleaning them up, the nurses were kind of… I was looking over to try and get a glimpse of them, and the nurses were kind of holding them up.”

For weeks, the only way they could see their boys was virtually through a screen.

They were finally able to hold their boys for the first time on Thursday.
