Orange County officials issue stern warning to gyms

Orange County officials said Thursday that some gyms have been defying state orders and operating at full capacity. Officials they’ve identified gyms as locations of potential coronavirus outbreak sources and warned that penalties could be coming. Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings said the county will be increasing its inspections of gyms and said officials will begin cracking down on businesses that are not complyingDr. Raul Pino, the health officer for the Florida Health Department in Orange County, said he’s visited some gyms and they’re not following the governor’s guidelines. He said if gym owners don’t comply the county will take “additional steps.” Demings and Pino also spoke about the number of hospitalizations in the county, saying hospital leaders tell them that currently the hospitals can handle capacity, but Pino added that staffing employees could be a concern.
