New COVID-19 infections spike in Marion County, without any clear explanation why

Over the weekend, 54 Marion County homeowners evaluated positive for COVID-19, the highest three-day boost since screening began. The rise isn’t described by more screening taking place, outbreaks in regional nursing homes or any other single cause.

Fifty-four county homeowners got a positive test back between Saturday, April 18 and Monday, April 20, the largest three-day increase given that the very first Marion County resident confirmed positive on March 8.

Marion County has regularly had the highest rate of individuals with COVID-19 in Oregon, regardless of screening at a rate comparable to or lower than many other metropolitan counties.

With four state jails, a county jail and Oregon State Healthcare facility within its boundaries, Marion County has more people living and working in institutions than numerous Oregon counties.
