A huge surge at a paper mill in Maine, which sent a substantial plume of thick, black smoke into the air, was captured on video Wednesday afternoon.

No injuries were reported but much of the structure was ruined, according to reports.

” I’m just so pleased that everybody’s OK. Thank our lucky stars and the male upstairs,” Kristen Goodhart of neighboring Farmington, whose son operates at the mill, told WCSH-TV of Portland.

The blast was thought about a significant blow to the state’s paper industry, which had currently been suffering the impacts of the coronavirus shutdown, along with a combination that saw 5 other mills close between 2014 and 2016, the Bangor Daily News reported.

Wednesday’s explosion likewise caught the attention of scary author and native Mainer Stephen King, who posted a Twitter message in reaction.

” A paper mill exploded in Jay, Maine today, not too far down the road from us,” King composed. “A BATHROOM TISSUE mill. Keep a stack of magazines and advertising circulars convenient.”

The structure, called the Androscoggin Mill, employs 500 people and is the second-largest employer in Franklin County, according to the Daily News. The owner, Pixelle Specialized Solutions of Pennsylvania, would not understand till Thursday the earliest whether the mill can be partially resumed to resume production, a company official informed the newspaper.e

The mill produces specialty paper items however it was uncertain whether toilet tissue, as pointed out in King’s tweet, was among them.

” We don’t know yet what the future may bring for the Androscoggin Mill,” Gov. Janet Mills, a Democrat who resides in Farmington, stated at a press conference. “That will come more totally into view in the coming days.”

The blast caused a fire that drew a response from seven fire departments, WCSH reported.
