A bold pastor, who flouted a prohibition on large gatherings by holding services that drew numerous fans in Louisiana, was detained for almost hitting a protester with a church bus over the weekend, video shows.
Tony Spell, the pastor of Life Tabernacle Church in Baton Rouge, turned himself in Tuesday early morning, according to the Central Police Department.

Spell was detained and reserved at the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of aggravated assault and improper backing.
The cops department added the pastor “was likewise a fugitive with outstanding traffic warrants in the city of Zachary and East Baton Rouge Parish.”

This is the second time Spell has been jailed throughout the coronavirus pandemic.
He was arrested last month and charged with six misdemeanor counts for breaking a stay-at-home order provided by Gov. John Bel Edwards after holding a service with an estimated500 parishioners.
On Sunday, Spell was supposedly shot backing a church bus toward a protester outside your home of worship prior to stopping a few feet away from him, according to regional media reports.

” That man has remained in front of my church driveway for three weeks now,” Spell told WAFB-TV on Monday. ” He shoots people obscene finger gestures and shouts vulgarities.
” I was pulling in from my bus path, picking up black kids who have not consumed because of this sinister policy that has closed schools,” he included. “I was going to approach this gentleman and ask him to leave.”

” Instead of revealing the strength and strength of our neighborhood throughout this difficult time, Mr. Spell has picked to humiliate us for his own self-promotion,” the Central Cops Department stated in a Facebook post said at the time of the very first arrest.

” This is not a concern over religious liberty, and it’s not about politics,” the cops included. ” We are dealing with a public health crisis and expect our community’s leaders to set a favorable example and follow the law.”
After the arrest, Spell informed Fox News he was exercising his First Modification rights and a mandate from Jesus Christ. His lawyer, Jeff Wittenbrink, was hospitalized recently after contracting the infection himself.

One parishioner who went to services at the church reportedly died from COVID-19 last week, according to media reports.
Churches in a number of states are suing regional and state governments over comparable restrictions on large events, arguing the requireds violate their religious freedom and right to assembly.
