Jackson County suffers two more COVID-19 deaths, 11 new cases
Jackson County ranks 10th for most Michigan coronavirus cases

Of all Jackson County cases, 134 are men, and 161 are women, per the Jackson County Health Department.

Eighteen percent of Jackson County’s cases are people between age 50 and 59, while 21 percent are people 40 to 49. The percentage of people 60 to 69 with COVID-19 is at 19 percent.

Positive COVID-19 results from the prisons in Jackson County are not included in the health department’s data.

Four new inmates have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Parnall Correctional Facility, bringing the total to 168 confirmed cases and 24 negative tests, per the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Of the inmates who tested positive, 63 have recovered and been moved to a step-down unit where the prisoners aren’t in contact with others, according to MDOC.

No new Parnall employees tested positive for COVID-19, leaving the total at 68, according to MDOC.

In total, five inmates at the Parnall Correctional Facility have died of COVID-19.

Eight new inmates have tested positive for the novel coronavirus at G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility. This brings the total to 82 positive cases and 48 inmates testing negative. No inmate deaths have occurred.

There have also been eight employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 to-date, but no deaths have occurred, according to MDOC.

Three new positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at Duane Waters Health Center, bringing the total to 23, with 26 negative tests and two results pending.

No new inmate deaths have occurred at the health center, leaving the total at one, per MDOC. No employees at the health center have tested positive, per MDOC.

Michigan has 35,291 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 2,977 deaths caused by the disease as of 3 p.m. Thursday, April 23.
