The Trump administration revealed the specifics of a $100 billion strategy to support the healthcare system during the coronavirus pandemic and guarantee that uninsured clients will be covered by offering medical facilities and physicians direct payments from the federal government.

Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Alex Azar said Wednesday in his announcement that $20 billion will be doled out to healthcare facilities across the nation and another $10 billion will be concentrated on rural health centers and hospitals. Indian Health Service centers will get $400 million and coronavirus hotspots that have brought the brunt of the cases will get $10 billion in relief. New york city, for example, the hardest-hit state in the nation, will be assigned $4.4 billion.

” Our objective in all of the decisions we’re making is to get the cash from the Service provider Relief Fund out the door as rapidly as possible while targeting it to those suffering the most from the pandemic,” Azar stated in a declaration.

The much-needed financing is the second round of payments to health care service providers– tacking on to the $30 billion currently dispersed– to support doctors and medical facilities that are suffering financial losses due to shelved optional procedures as the uptick of coronavirus cases required more instant attention.

Medical professionals and medical facilities will be needed to submit patients’ bills to the government straight and in return will be paid at Medicare rates.

The strategy keeps in mind the obstacles of badly affected immigrant neighborhoods who are hesitant to look for care and do not obligate companies to ask for a patient’s migration status.

Still, Democrats say the funds are not enough. Lawmakers are nailing down the specifics of another relief bundle to introduce an extra $75 billion to enhance the healthcare system.
