Friday marks another large surge in COVID-19 cases in Allegheny County with 61

PITTSBURGH — Health officials in Allegheny County report one of the largest daily increases in coronavirus cases in weeks, with 61 new cases confirmed on Friday. There were 61 new positive cases of COVID-19 on Friday.

To date, 379 people had been hospitalized and two more people have died bringing the total number of coroanvirus-related deaths in the county to 186.

Today’s report of 2,382 cases reflects an increase of 61 cases. It also includes 379 past or present hospitalizations (+1) and 186 deaths (+2).

According to information from the health department, this marks the second-highest daily total ever for Allegheny County.

County officials said they would be releasing more information later in the day regarding the surging numbers of cases.
