BELTON, Texas (KWTX) Bell County Public Health District officials issued an advisory Tuesday after two employees of the Golden Chick restaurant at 610 East 6th Ave. in Belton tested positive for the new coronavirus.

Anyone who ordered from the business between May 15 and May 19 may have been exposed.

“A public notice is necessary because of the difficulty associated with the contact tracing of one of the employees,” Bell County Public Health Director Amanda Robison-Chadwell said.’

One employee who was asymptomatic tested positive for the virus on May 16.

The public’s exposure to the employee was limited, the health district said.

The second, however, was symptomatic and test results received Tuesday confirmed the infection.

The restaurant was temporarily closed Tuesday for sanitization and cleaning.

Residents who ordered food between May 15 and May 19 with concerns may call the health district at (254) 773-4457 or email [email protected].

Golden Chick issued a statement Tuesday evening in which it said it has “been working diligently with the local health department” since learning of the positive test on May 16.

“Our Belton location immediately closed for a deep clean and our employees were advised to stay home and self-quarantine if they had any symptoms. We look forward to serving the community of Belton again soon when it is safe for our employees and guests.”
