Doorbell cams could hold secret to Suzanne Morphew’s disappearance

Some Colorado residents are being asked to keep video footage from their homes and personal devices in the ongoing search for a missing woman who disappeared during a Mother’s Day bike ride.

Chaffee County Sheriff John Spezze on Sunday urged residents to hold onto any recordings from security and game cameras, Ring doorbells and other devices between May 8-12 as authorities continue to search for 49-year-old Suzanne Morphew.

“One of the most helpful ways the community can aid in the search of Suzanne Morphew is by preserving these recordings,” Spezze said in a statement. “We are aware that some systems override video after several days, and we want to ensure video remains available if needed.”

Residents should not send any footage to Spezze’s office. Deputies will notify residents to collect any clips moving forward as search areas are identified, Spezze said.

The sheriff’s request came after divers searched waterways Sunday in the area where Morphew disappeared on May 10. Morphew, a married mother of two from Maysville, was reported missing by a neighbor after she did not return from a bike ride near County Road 225 and West Highway 50 in Chaffee County.

More than 100 tips from the public have been received in the search for Morphew, Colorado Bureau of Investigation spokeswoman Susan Medina said Monday.

“Investigators have been assigned those tips, to evaluate them and look at them a little deeper,” Medina told The Post. “The sheriff’s office has said this is critical. No matter how small the information seems to be, report it so investigators can address it.”

The search for Morphew was still active as of early Monday, Medina said.

A reward for the woman has reportedly reached $200,000, including $100,000 put up by her husband, Barry Morphew. He also made an emotional plea for her safe return in a Facebook video posted Sunday.

“Oh Suzanne, if anyone is out there that can hear this, that has you — please we’ll do whatever it takes to bring you back,” Barry Morphew said. “We love you. We miss you. Your girls need you.”
