Coronavirus update: 2 more deaths, 18 new positive cases in Onondaga County

Syracuse, N.Y. – Two more Onondaga County residents have died of coronavirus, raising the county’s death toll from the pandemic to 203.

The county reported the residents were men, one in his 80s and the other in his 90s, both with underlying health conditions.

The county also reported 18 new positive cases among 3,628 test results received since Tuesday. Authorities were unable to pinpoint the source of 11 of those cases. Four cases were household contacts of previously confirmed cases, two cases were travel-related (Pennsylvania), and one case was from a senior living facility. Overall, there have been 3,480 positive cases in Onondaga County since the pandemic began.

Sixteen people were hospitalized for coronavirus today, unchanged from Tuesday. Three of them are in critical condition.

The county is monitoring 118 active coronavirus cases, up 11 since Tuesday.
