Coronavirus continues to claim lives across Los Angeles County. Brand-new figures released Saturday program 607 additional cases of COVID-19 and 48 more deaths in the county over the past 24 hours.
2 of those deaths were reported by the city of Long Beach, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health stated in a press release. Of those who passed away overnight, 38 had hidden health conditions. Overall, the county has now seen 19,107 cases and 895 deaths.
As of Saturday, nearly 114,000 county homeowners had been tested for the virus, with 15%screening favorable, stated Dr. Barbara Ferrer, the county’s director of public health.
With temperature levels climbing up into the 90 s in many parts of Southern California, officials are advising the public that beaches and parks remain closed throughout Los Angeles for the weekend. Locals are likewise being advised to continue social distancing, even while delighting in the warm weather condition outdoors.
” With this weekend’s heats, I encourage everybody to take actions to remain cool while still practicing physical distancing and adhering to Safer in the house regulations,” Ferrer said. “Because we are still seeing a significant boost in new cases and deaths, we ask that you continue to stay at home as much as possible. Delight in the outdoors safely by taking walks on your own or with your home members near your home and always staying at least 6 feet apart from others.”
