SAN FRANCISCO (KGO)– A number of Bay Area counties and cities have revealed a requirement for residents to use face coverings or masks when out in public because of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Health authorities in Contra Costa, Marin, Alameda, San Mateo and Sonoma counties made the announcement Friday afternoon as the virus continues to spread.
In addition to the 5 Bay Area counties, the cities of Fremont and San Francisco have actually released comparable ordinances for residents, requiring making use of face masks in public areas, common spaces and when riding public transit.

San Francisco
In San Francisco, the ordinance will go into impact at midnight Friday, with authorities enforcement beginning April 22 at 8 a.m.

Friday’s ordinance makes face coverings a requirement for those in the city.

In Contra Costa County, the order enters into impact April22 The East Bay county has similar standards as other regions in the Bay Location.
