Butte County warned it may be placed on the state’s watch list Wednesday

BUTTE COUNTY, Calif. – Butte County Public Health said it was notified by the state that if the county’s coronavirus data does not improve over the next 48 hours, it will be added to the monitoring list on July 22.

Health officials said if the county remains on the monitoring list for 72 hours, Butte County will have to follow new restrictions as part of statewide actions designed to slow the spread of coronavirus. If so, the new restrictions would be effective on Saturday, July 25, and would remain in place until the state takes further action.

Butte County would join over 30 other counties in the state in being added to the monitoring list. The county’s rate of infections per 100,000 residents is average 115 to 130 daily, according to public health. The threshold to be added to the monitoring list is over 100 cases per 100,000 residents.

Once counties have remained on the monitoring list for three consecutive days, they must close all indoor operations of the following types of businesses:

  • Gyms and fitness centers
  • Places of worship
  • Protests
  • Offices for non-critical infrastructure sectors
  • Personal care services (including nail salons, massage parlors and tattoo parlors)
  • Hair salons and barbershops
  • Malls

On July 13, all counties across the state were required to close indoor operations for dine-in restaurants, wineries and tasting rooms, movie theaters, family entertainment centers, zoos and museums, and cardrooms.

Additionally, bars, brewpubs, breweries, and pubs must close all operations both indoor and outdoor statewide, unless they are offering sit-down, outdoor dine-in meals. Alcohol can only be sold in the same transaction as a meal.

On Monday, Butte County reported 118 new coronavirus cases and its fifth coronavirus related death. Click Here for more.
