Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced Monday she has tested positive for coronavirus, according to a tweet.
“COVID-19 has literally hit home,” the mayor said. “I have had NO symptoms and have tested positive.”
Later on Monday, she told Chris Cuomo on CNN that two of her four children had been tested, and one of them was positive. The other two were going to be tested, she said, noting that all her children have asthma.
Bottoms, 50, has gained national prominence for clashing with Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, a Trump ally, over the state’s response to the coronavirus pandemic and protests against police brutality and racial injustice.
Georgia reported 1,897 new coronavirus cases on Sunday.
