‘A Complete Public Health Problem’: 100 Tyson Workers Near Pasco Test Favorable For COVID-19

Health authorities have evaluated more than 1,000 Tyson Fresh Meats plant workers for COVID-19 in Wallula, Washington, near Pasco. Since Friday afternoon, 111 have evaluated favorable in the plant that butchers and processes beef products.

Employees stated they were concerned that they were still cutting meat a day after the business announced that it was taking a ” pause.”

After their shifts, workers lined up in the plant’s lunchroom to get tested for COVID-19 Health authorities state they’re utilizing phone translation services because about a lots languages are spoken inside the plant.

Walla County health director Meghan DeBolt states employees work close together inside.

” It’s simply pretty much the perfect breeding ground for COVID-19 and a complete public health headache,” DeBolt said.

DeBolt says now workers will separate in your home while they’re awaiting test results.

The plant has been the site of a growing number of cases over the previous week, with Tyson saying it would execute more safety measures to address more assessments and prevent shutting down.

Previously this week, the main Washington fruit giant Stemilt stated a minimum of 36 employees had checked positive for COVID-19 around its field operation in the Wenatchee area.
