The late Mary Agyeiwaa Agyapong, a UK-based Ghanaian nurse at the NHS

A 28- year-old UK-based Ghanaian nurse lost the battle to Coronavirus soon after she tested positive for the illness.

According to reports, Mary Agyeiwaa Agyapong was heavily pregnant and underwent a caesarean section to conserve her daughter.

It is not clear if the child has evaluated positive for the infection, reports say she is “alive and being cared for.”

Describing the reason for the c-section, an internal e-mail to personnel of the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, where the departed worked, stated that the choice was taken after Mary’s condition got worse.

According to the NHS Trust’s Chief Executive, David Carter, the survival of her baby daughter was a “beacon of light at this extremely dark time”.

Mary Agyeiwaa Agyapong tested positive for COVID-19 after being checked on 5th of April and was admitted to the healthcare facility on April 7.

Reports exposed that Mary’s condition had actually at first appeared to improve before it deteriorated.

She passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020.

Her associates at Luton and Dunstable Hospital stated Mary was “an incredible nurse and an excellent example of what we represent”.
