Even as Georgia ended up being the first state to officially reopen a few of its companies, increasingly restive California citizens defied lockdown orders to head to the beaches as temperatures struck the 90 s.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom pleaded for social distancing in any gathering.

On Friday, Newsom tweeted out a message. Can’t stress this enough: CA can just keep flattening the curve if we remain home and practice physical distancing.

Some 40,000 individuals were apparently headed to Newport Beach Friday, and perhaps bigger crowds might be expected for the weekend as temperatures remain high.

Meanwhile, Georgia resumed its gyms, hairdresser and tattoo parlors on Friday, with movie theaters and dine-in restaurants set to follow on Monday.

But many companies stayed shuttered, as worries remained about whether it truly was safe to return to work Georgia’s shelter-in-place order does not officially expire till April 30.

In other cities and states, demonstrations continued demanding resuming of financial activity.
