For first time, Alabama added 1,000-plus coronavirus cases in a day

For the first time since tracking began, the number of coronavirus cases in Alabama grew by more than 1,000 in a day.

The Alabama Department of Public Health’s June 14 10 a.m. numbers show 25,235 cases in the state, a jump of 1,014 since yesterday. The four-digit increase comes on the heels of three days where the number of new cases topped 800. The number of deaths from the virus stayed at 768.

According to ADPH, there are 540 hospitalizations from the virus, down from a high of 647 on June 11.

Alabama has tested 297,075 people, 87,078 in the last 14 days, with 7,227 positives in the past two weeks.

Montgomery County has now passed Mobile County for the greatest number of cases. Montgomery County added 147 cases bringing its total to 2,791, 94 higher than Mobile.
