Cornavirus: Witney nurse, 84, passes away from Covid-19

An auxiliary nurse who was still working night shifts at 84 has actually passed away after contracting coronavirus.

Margaret Tapley continued to work as a health care assistant at Witney Community Hospital in Oxfordshire.

Her granddaughter Hannah Tapley commemorated her on Facebook, calling her the “most difficult working, caring and best female out there”.

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust stated Mrs Tapley passed away in medical facility in Swindon at 03: 00 BST on Sunday.

The trust stated she had worked her last shift on April 10, adding: “Despite her advancing years, Margaret was figured out to carry on caring and being part of her healthcare facility household.”

Hannah Tapley, who is a high jumper who has competed for Group GB, said her granny was the “greatest woman” she had actually ever known.

” I am so proud to call her my grandmother … Dedicating her life to others and working for the NHS doing night shifts as a nurse at her age.”

‘ A legend’

Another of her grandchildren, Tom Wood – a senior charge nurse in an A&E department – explained his Ms Tapley as his “inspiration”.

” She was a big reason regarding why I am a nurse today. She took huge pride in her work however was so modest. She embodied the nursing spirit,” he stated.

Oxford Health chief executive Stuart Bell stated: “She was a legend on the ward, and more commonly throughout the entire healthcare facility.

” She had actually worked there for many years, and was impressive because she stuck with her team well beyond the point when lots of others would have retired.

” Margaret knew coronavirus postured a threat, and if she had wanted she would have been perfectly validated in self-isolating, but she wanted to continue in her function, getting the job done she enjoyed.”
