Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani told “Bill Hemmer Reports<\/a>” Monday that former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin be charged with first-degree murder if officials conclude that George Floyd<\/a> died of asphyxiation\u00a0on May 25.<\/p>\n

“He had that man down there for about eight minutes,” Giuliani told host Bill Hemmer. “I counted five times [where Chauvin] was warned that he might be killing him [Floyd]. That’s a lot of warning. That’s a lot of intent.<\/p>\n

“Every single time he [Chauvin] was told, ‘He’s not breathing,’ he had a chance to reflect and decide, ‘Am I going to continue to have him not breathing\u00a0… or am I going to stop?’ Four, five times, he made the decision to do that. That’s a lot of intent. That’s just as good as premeditation the day before.”<\/p>\n

On Monday, Floyd’s family released an independent autopsy report that stated Floyd died of asphyxia due to neck and back compression that led to a lack of blood flow to the brain. Preliminary results from the official autopsy, which were included in a criminal complaint against Chauvin filed Friday, said officials had found nothing “to support a diagnosis of traumatic asphyxia or strangulation.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the interview, Giuliani had slammed Democratic officials in several states and cities who he described as\u00a0ineffective at quashing the rioting that has took place in more than a dozen cities over the weekend.<\/p>\n

“[We’ve had] xix days of lawlessness with\u00a0little interruption by the\u00a0police:\u00a0Essentially the police might as\u00a0well be cameramen for you, they\u00a0sit there, they get pounded,\u00a0they get pelted;\u00a040\u00a0Secret Service agents get\u00a0seriously injured, 50 or 60 police officers have been\u00a0seriously injured,” Giuliani said.\u00a0“I never would have\u00a0accepted that when I was mayor\u00a0of the city.<\/p>\n

“The protest never would’ve\u00a0gone beyond one day.\u00a0These incompetents have stretched\u00a0this to six days, because they\u00a0don’t have the fortitude to\u00a0arrest [rioters].\u00a0The first person who throws a\u00a0brick gets arrested.\u00a0The second person, then the\u00a0third one, then the fourth one,\u00a0and it goes away.”<\/p>\n

“I find these to be\u00a0completely the fault of week\u00a0incompetent, progressive\u00a0Democrats who have their heads\u00a0in the clouds,” Giuliani added.<\/p>\n

Giuliani specifically called out current New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio, whose daughter Chiara was among those arrested during protests in Manhattan Saturday night.<\/p>\n

He noted that only days earlier, de Blasio was threatening strong punishment for\u00a0New Yorkers who failed to follow social distancing guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic, even promising to have police “pull” rogue swimmers out of the water.<\/p>\n

“Think of the absurdity,” Giuliani\u00a0said. “Now we have\u00a0thousands of people in the street\u00a0not socially distancing,\u00a0throwing Molotov cocktails,\u00a0beating up policemen, and they\u00a0don’t get arrested.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
