“If wearing masks is important and all the health experts tell us that it is in containing the disease in 2020, it would help if from time to time the president would wear one to help us get rid of this political debate that says if you’re for Trump, you don’t wear a mask, if you’re against Trump, you do,” Alexander, who chairs the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, told CNN’s “Inside Politics.”
When asked if the American public should look to Trump for public health advice, the Tennessee Republican said people should listen to health experts
“My suggestion to the pesident all along and for the other political leaders is let the experts do the talking about medicine. People trust them,” Alexander said.
Trump has been hesitant to be seen wearing a mask in public, telling The Wall Street Journal that masks are “a double-edged sword” and suggesting they were being worn as a political statement by those against him.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that all people “should wear a cloth face cover when they have to go out in public.”

Former chairman of the California Republican Party Tom Del Beccaro pushed back on the state’s stay-at-home order on Wednesday, saying he thinks “things are going to unravel” for Gov. Gavin Newsom.
“California is a big place and treating northern California or the eastern counties the same as L.A. makes no sense,” Del Beccaro said on “Fox & Friends First” on Wednesday. “There’s a lot of rumblings, a lot of lawsuits, a lot of counties that are fighting back.”
He then revealed what he called a “dirty little secret.”
“The district attorneys and certain sheriffs aren’t enforcing Gavin Newsom’s rules, so I think things are going to unravel for him,” Beccaro said.
Del Beccaro made the statements one day after Newsom unveiled a four-stage plan to reopen the state’s economy.
This week Newsom said, “Politics will not drive our decision-making, protests won’t drive our decision-making.”

“We need to protect not just the business community, but customers of those businesses,” he added.
Unlike Georgia and other states that are already allowing hair and nail salons to operate, those would have to wait until a later phase of California’s reopening plan, the state public health director Sonia Angell said. Mass gatherings, including concerts and sporting events, are even further away, possibly not until there’s a virus treatment.
It wasn’t clear when restaurants could allow dine-in services again. Many have been offering takeout and delivery since Newsom issued his statewide stay-at-home order March 19; however, thousands of restaurant workers have lost their jobs.
The state’s unemployment department has processed 3.2 million unemployment claims because of the coronavirus, Newsom said in a news briefing on Monday, KXTV reported.
Del Beccaro said Newsom’s four-stage plan is “unrealistic,” emphasizing how important tourism is to California’s economy and hospitality industry.
“Where do restaurants fall in this plan? It’s not clear and there’s already an estimate that 30 percent to 40 percent of restaurants in California will never reopen,” he noted.
Newsom said this week that California may be only a few weeks away from making “meaningful changes” to its stay-at-home order and warned progress will be jeopardized if people do things like crowd beaches, which occurred last weekend.
Del Beccaro said that Newsom’s plan unveiled Tuesday indicates that California’s reopening won’t happen for months, not weeks.
“I think he’s going to get pushback and also what you find, is here and there, and I talked to people today throughout the state, there are non-essential businesses already doing that kind of work, opening up and doing things,” Del Beccaro said.
“California is just too big for one man to try to control and some of these lawsuits are going to overturn his rules,” he continued.
Officials from six rural Northern California counties — Sutter, Yuba, Butte, Colusa, Tehama and Glenn — wrote to Newsom this week asking to implement “a careful and phased reopening of our local economies.” The counties, with a population of about 500,000, have seen fewer than 100 confirmed coronavirus cases and a handful of deaths.
Del Beccaro noted on Wednesday that those counties “have almost no cases whatsoever.”
“Of course they’re very sparsely populated, unlike Los Angeles, so those six counties make a great case for saying treat us different than Los Angeles,” he continued.
He then noted that “protests and lawsuits are gaining speed” and said he expected some of the rulings to be turned over.
There have been a few protests by people who want to reopen the state, saying their liberty and livelihoods are at stake. On Sunday, dozens rallied in Pacific Beach in San Diego.
Three people were arrested at a rally just north of San Diego and were cited for violating health orders, Sheriff’s Lt. Ricardo Lopez said.
Meantime, the six San Francisco Bay Area counties said it’s too early for them to ease restrictions.
As of Wednesday, California has reported more than 46,000 coronavirus cases and 1,862 deaths, according to data compiled by Fox News. More than half of the state’s cases and deaths have been reported in Los Angeles County, according to Johns Hopkins University.
The number of infections, however, is thought to be far higher because many people have not been tested and studies suggest people can have COVID-19 without showing symptoms.

Imagine an election where a ballot is sent to a person regardless of eligibility, signed by someone else, picked up and delivered by a campaign operative, and still counted. If Democrats got their way, that is what would happen in Nevada this June, and nationwide in November.
Democrats have sued Nevada in an attempt to block the state from enforcing election laws on the books in their upcoming primary. Their demands? Nevada must suspend its prosecution of ballot harvesters, where the practice is illegal, and refuse to allow election officials to verify signatures on ballots, contrary to state law. They claim this basic check to see whether a ballot is from the same voter who signed up to vote is “not needed to ensure the integrity of the election.”
This is the Democrats’ standard for “integrity” in elections. The first red flag should have been that it is Marc Elias and Perkins Coie who are doing the suing.

If you need a refresher, Perkins Coie is the Democratic law firm, paid by the Hillary Clinton campaign, that hired Fusion GPS to dig up dirt on Donald Trump in 2016. They failed, but still compiled a dossier full of foreign-solicited lies about Trump and Russia, which was leaked by Obama intelligence officials to try to sabotage the new president’s administration, sow doubt in his election victory, and invalidate the votes of 63 million Americans. Not the best track record on “integrity.”
But why wait to sow confusion and doubt after an election when Democrats can do so before? That is their ongoing campaign to remove voting safeguards through the courts, and now using a pandemic to fundamentally upend the way we vote to further their political aims.

Elias and Perkins Coie first threatened to sue Nevada unless the state breaks its own voting laws. You read that right. In a letter sent to the secretary of state, Elias demanded election officials throw out signature verification requirements.
To Elias and the Democrats, it is OK if a signature on a ballot does not even remotely match a voter’s registration on file. They claim election officials do not have the “necessary expertise” to check, even though signature verification is already conducted on every voter registration in Nevada and checked for every voter who shows up at the polls. Voters also have the chance to contact election officials in the event of a mistake.

Democrats demand in-person voting be expanded in Nevada, after just claiming it was too dangerous to go to the polls in Wisconsin. Last week, Elias called in-person voting a “national disgrace.” Now, Elias says “converting to an all-mail election in a matter of weeks” is impossible, and voting must be expanded “safely in person.” Nice of them to catch up to the fact that one-size-fits-all nationalized mail-in voting is a bad idea.
While they tried and failed to allow people to vote a full week after Election Day in Wisconsin, Democrats are still committed to expanding ballot harvesting and weakening ballot security.
Democrats also want ballots sent to “all registered voters in Nevada,” regardless of whether the voter has moved away. This would increase the number of ballots in circulation far beyond those eligible to vote.
For its primary, Nevada is providing mail-in ballots to active voters, but not inactive ones. Registrations are marked “inactive” only after officials have received reliable information such as from the U.S. Postal Service that the voter has moved and fails to respond to a mailing asking the voter to confirm his or her address.
It is critical that mail-in voting has these safeguards, given fraud is easier by mail, and states are known to have millions of dead and ineligible voters on their rolls.
In 2018 there were over 239,000 inactive voters in Nevada, meaning Democrats want roughly a quarter-million extra ballots floating around during the primary. This would be convenient for their “voter assistance” plans, the Democrats’ euphemistic go-around for ballot harvesting in states where it is banned.
Democrats are using “social distancing” as an excuse to allow campaign operatives to traffic in ballots, and stop the enforcement of crucial voter integrity laws. In Nevada, it is a felony for a person to handle a ballot other than their own. The law already has an exception for a voter to allow an authorized family member to return their ballot, making Democrats’ excuses ring hollow.

It is not really about social distancing. If it were, Democrats would not want to put their campaign operatives at risk by sending them door-to-door to handle thousands of ballots.
The only thing Democrats are consistent on is their mission to gut voting integrity. And their hypocrisy.
