WALLA WALLA, Wash. \u2014 <\/b> As the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Walla Walla County continues to rise, public health officials said <\/a>they have been receiving reports of COVID-19 \u201cparties\u201d being held in the community.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

At the \u201cparties,\u201d noninfected people mingle with an infected person to try and catch the virus, health officials said in a news release.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

As of 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, the Walla Walla Department of Community Health reported<\/a> one death among 94 confirmed cases.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cAs COVID-19 cases in Walla Walla County continue to rise, health officials strongly recommend you remain vigilant with physical distancing to limit community transmission of the virus,\u201d Walla Walla County Department of Community Health said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The CDC said parents, in the past, have participated in \u201cchickenpox parties\u201d to intentionally expose unvaccinated children in hopes they would get the disease and beat it while still young and healthy.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

The CDC recommends against hosting or participating in these \u201cparties.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

\n

Officials remind people who are sick to call a health care facility before going in to make arrangements to prevent others from exposure.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
