Lamar Alexander: I do not know if we’ll have a GOP convention in Charlotte

Sen. Lamar Alexander, Tennessee Republican politician, stated the prospect of the Republican politician National Convention being held as arranged in late August is completely based on how the U.S. handle the coronavirus pandemic.

” I do not even know if we’ll have a Republican politician National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina,” Mr. Alexander said in an interview with C-SPAN released Wednesday.

Mr. Alexander, who is not seeking another term in the U.S. Senate, had been asked if he would feel comfortable participating in.

” All of this depends upon what occurs each week,” he stated. “We need the tests, the screening tests– lots of them– in order to have any chance of going to a Republican National Convention or any other huge occasion.”

Republican Politician National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel stated today organizers were moving “complete speed ahead” with plans for a traditional convention but that they would keep an eye on conditions and adjust accordingly.

President Trump, who appears excited to return on the project trail after mainly being restricted to the White Home throughout the outbreak, said earlier this month there’s no contingency prepare for the GOP convention.

Democrats delayed their convention in Milwaukee, which had been slated for mid-July, to August due to the coronavirus.

Former Virginia Gov. and Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe stated last week he questions there will be a Milwaukee convention.
