White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany played footage of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in the shuttered San Francisco salon on loop Thursday, as she said the House speaker “ought to apologize” to Americans.

“Nancy Pelosi was not in the halls of Congress when I asked where she was, she was not working in good faith to make a deal for the American people,” McEnany said during a White House briefing. “Nope, Nancy Pelosi was found in San Francisco, at a hair salon, where she was indoors, even though salons in California are only open for outdoor service.”

Salons in San Francisco have been closed since March and could reopen only for outdoor hairstyling services on Sept. 1.

PELOSI FIGHTS BACK: ‘THE SALON OWES ME AN APOLOGY FOR SETTING ME UP’

“Apparently, the rules do not apply to Speaker Nancy Pelosi; she wants small businesses to stay shut down, but only reopened for her convenience” the press secretary continued. “Do as I say, not as I do, says Nancy Pelosi.”

She added that the California Democrat was “holding up” $1.3 trillion in coronavirus relief for Americans.

“Before she skipped town to violate her state’s health guidelines, Pelosi proposed a bill,” McEnany said. She noted that the HEROES Act, the House’s coronavirus relief proposal, did not contain any additional funding for the Paycheck Protection Program, “funding that would help the very small business she has bizarrely accused of plotting against her.

In May, the House passed the HEROES Act, with a pricetag of $3 trillion, and the Senate proposed the HEALS act, coronavirus relief that would cost $1 trillion.

Congress could not come to an agreement between the two packages and further coronavirus relief still hangs in limbo. Pelosi said that Democrats were willing to compromise at $2 trillion for the fourth coronavirus stimulus package, but that the Trump administration rejected their offer. She said coronavirus relief talks would not resume until the Republicans agreed to offer $2 trillion.

A defiant Pelosi on Wednesday claimed she was “set up” and that a hair salon in San Francisco “owes” her an “apology” after it was revealed the California Democrat visited the business despite local ordinances keeping salons closed amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Pelosi added she has been to the salon “over the years many times.”

“I take responsibility for trusting the word of the neighborhood salon that I have been to many times,” Pelosi told reporters Wednesday. “When they said they could accommodate people one at a time, and we can set up that time, I trusted that.”

She added: “As it turns out, it was a setup. So I take responsibility for falling for a setup.”

“The salon owes me an apology for setting me up,” she added.

Pelosi, on Wednesday, downplayed the fact that she didn’t wear a mask in the salon.

EXCLUSIVE: PELOSI USED SHUTTERED SAN FRANCISCO HAIR SALON FOR A BLOW-OUT, OWNER CALLS IT ‘SLAP IN THE FACE’

“I just had my hair washed. I don’t wear my mask when I’m washing my hair,” she said. “Do you wear one when you wash your hair?”

““It was a slap in the face that she went in, you know, that she feels that she can just go and get her stuff done while no one else can go in, and I can’t work,” Kious told Fox News, adding that she “can’t believe” the speaker didn’t have a mask on. (From the footage, it appears Pelosi had some kind of covering around her neck.)

“We’re supposed to look up to this woman, right?” Kious said. “It is just disturbing.”

Kious said Pelosi received a wash and a blow-dry, but told Fox News that “you’re not supposed to blow dry hair,” according to coronavirus safety precautions for hair salons.

“We have been shut down for so long, not just me, but most of the small businesses and I just can’t – it’s a feeling – a feeling of being deflated, helpless and honestly beaten down,” Kious said.

“I have been fighting for six months for a business that took me 12 years to build to reopen,” she explained. “I am a single mom, I have two small children, and I have no income.”

Meanwhile, President Trump weighed in, blasting the speaker for “constantly lecturing everyone else” on COVID-19 guidelines.

“Crazy Nancy Pelosi is being decimated for having a beauty parlor opened, when all others are closed, and for not wearing a Mask–despite constantly lecturing everyone else,” the president tweeted Wednesday. “We will almost certainly take back the House, and send Nancy packing!”

Why does the coronavirus affect some people and spare others? A new study says it may have something to do with your blood type.

Genetic testing company 23andMe conducted a study in early April that appears to find a connection.

NBC 6 anchor Sheli Muñiz talked to Dr. Anjali Shastri, a researcher with 23andMe who is based in California.

Local

DR. SHASTRI: On April 6, 23andMe launched a genetic study on COVID-19, and we reached out to our customers, and we really had a tremendous response. 800,000 individuals responded to the COVID-19 survey, out of which 12,000 were either diagnosed with or treated for COVID-19. So, we started analyzing the data and our preliminary results indicate that individuals with the blood type O are less susceptible to COVID-19. So, the blood type O is protective. Now, the effect isn’t huge, so when you look at the numbers of the individuals who are of blood type O, (they) are 9 to 18% less likely to test positive.

SHELI: What about the other blood types?

DR. SHASTRI: We’re not seeing that same level of protection in any of the other blood types in A, B, or AB.

SHELI: Does it speak to how a patient fares about contracting the coronavirus?

DR. SHASTRI: Our preliminary data shows that O is protective not just for susceptibility but also how severe the disease is.

SHELI: New research by MIT suggests race plays a bigger role in COVID-19 deaths than pre-existing health conditions, did you find other factors like race, sex, age?

DR. SHASTRI: Yea, so we controlled for all of those, and we found that the O type is protective once you control for all of those conditions.

SHELI: What do you do with these findings? What can the company now use this for in the future?

DR. SHASTRI: So, as soon as this study is completed, we can make this information publicly available so scientists around the world can use the data to further their studies. You know, ultimately the goal is to develop treatments for COVID-19, so if we can try to understand what’s the biological mechanism, why is someone with blood type O protected, we can use that to develop treatments for the disease.

It’s important to note that the results are preliminary as the study does continue, however, several other studies have shown similar results.

STERLING, Va. (AP) — President Donald Trump played golf Saturday for the first time since he declared the coronavirus pandemic a national emergency more than two months ago, leading to the shutdown of much of American society. His return to the course was the latest sign that he wants the country back to pre-outbreak times, even as the U.S. death toll from the virus nears 100,000, twice what he once predicted it would be.

Trump also planned Memorial Day visits to Arlington National Cemetery and the Fort McHenry national monument in Baltimore, followed by a trip to Florida’s coast on Wednesday to watch to U.S. astronauts blast into orbit.

The golf outing came a day after Trump said houses of worship are “essential” and he demanded that governors allow them to reopen during the holiday weekend. It also followed guidance from Dr. Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus task force coordinator, that it was OK for people to be outdoors this weekend as long as they took appropriate safety precautions.

Trump pulled away from the White House on a sunny morning wearing a white polo shirt, white cap and dark slacks. Photographs that appeared later on Twitter showed him swinging a golf club and driving alone in a cart on the course at his private Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia.

The White House had no comment on the president’s activities at the club, but said he had discussed the pandemic’s effect on the global economy with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday.

The golf trip was the president’s first visit to one of his money-making properties since March 8, when he visited his private golf club in West Palm Beach during a weekend at his Florida home. The World Health Organization declared the coronavirus a global pandemic on March 11, and Trump followed with the national emergency declaration two days later.

Trump is an avid golfer who has been overheard telling his White House guests how much he missed playing the game.

On Friday, Birx said it’s OK for Americans to play golf, tennis or other sports this weekend “if you stay 6 feet (1.8 meters) apart.” She also said the Washington metropolitan area had the highest positivity rate in the country. The capital city’s coronavirus death rate is higher than all but four states: New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

The U.S. leads the world with a reported 1.6 million coronavirus cases and more than 96,000 deaths, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Trump has ordered U.S. flags on federal buildings and national monuments to half-staff through Sunday in memory of Americans lost to COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

Trump levied frequent criticism of Barack Obama’s regular golf outings when he was president.

“Can you believe that with all of the problems and difficulties facing the U.S., President Obama spent the day playing golf. Worse than Carter,” Trump tweeted in October 2014 during the Ebola epidemic in West Africa, comparing Obama to former President Jimmy Carter.

As President Donald Trump urges states to reopen their economies, he also seemed to want to send a message of normalcy on a long weekend by doing something he hasn’t done in a while: Go to one of his golf clubs. On Saturday, the commander in chief went to the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia. It marked the first time the president traveled to one of his golf courses in 75 days, by far the longest stretch since he moved into the White House.

On a day when the number of deaths in the United States from the coronavirus got close to reaching the 100,000-mark, the presidential motorcade arrived at the Sterling club at 10:27 a.m. Reporters at the scene noted that while Secret Service members were all wearing masks, Trump and his golfing buddies went mask free. Footage from the golf outing appeared to show Trump riding in his golf cart by himself without a caddy. And there were at least some exceptions to social distancing rules as Trump could be seen patting another golfer on the shoulder at one point.

The last time Trump went to one of his clubs to golf was on March 8, when he went to the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. That was the weekend he spent to his Mar-a-Lago resort, where he hosted the Brazilian president and several Brazilian officials, one of whom ended up testing positive for COVID-19 shortly after the trip. That doesn’t necessarily mean that he hasn’t golfed since then though as he spent two “working weekends” at Camp David but it isn’t clear whether he played golf there.

Trump’s lack of golf has clearly been on his mind lately. “I’d really like to play golf but it’s too busy right now,” he told reporters earlier this month. He also called into a PGA golf program on NBC last weekend and talked about how much he yearned for the sport. “I do miss it. I haven’t played, really, since this problem that we have started. I haven’t been able to play golf for a while. I’ve been very busy, and I think that it’s just one of those things, but we’re getting back to normal,” Trump said.

Trump, of course, repeatedly criticized President Barack Obama when he played golf during his presidency. On Saturday, many pointed out to an October 2014 tweet in which Trump was incredulous that Obama could play golf “with all the problems and difficulties facing the U.S.” He also criticized Obama that month because he decided to play golf when there was “a major meeting on the N.Y.C. Ebola outbreak.” CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski posted a clip on Twitter of Trump calling into Fox and Friends to complain Obama was playing golf when there were a whopping two cases of Ebola in the United States.

STERLING, Va. (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday went on his first golf outing since the White House declared a national emergency over the coronavirus in March, visiting his club in the Washington suburbs in a purposeful display of normalcy.

On a sunny spring day, Trump’s motorcade took him from the White House to Trump National Golf Club, and he was spotted wearing a white cap and white polo shirt.

It was his first time at a golf property since March 8, when he visited his club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

That was the same weekend when he met at his Mar-a-Lago retreat with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, whose press secretary later tested positive for the virus. Some White House staffers who had been in contact with the press aide went into quarantine afterward but none tested positive.

On March 13, Trump issued a proclamatihere declaring the pandemic a “national emergency.”

The U.S. diagnosed its first cases of the coronavirus in Washington state on Jan. 20. (See a graphic here on the virus’s spread in the U.S.)

Trump is eager to promote the idea that the United States is returning to normal, although the death toll from the coronavirus outbreak continues to rise and is expected to surpass 100,000 in the coming days.

Trump’s coronavirus task force coordinator, Deborah Birx, told a White House briefing on Friday that Americans over this Memorial Day weekend should “be outside, play golf, play tennis with marked balls, go to the beach – but stay six feet apart!”

During a pandemic that has seen more than 70,000 deaths in the US (almost a quarter of the global amount), there is probably no worse song the president could walk out to than Live and Let Die, a cover by the rock band Guns N’ Roses. But these are strange times, and so as Donald Trump walked around an N95 mask manufacturing plant in Phoenix, Arizona, that’s exactly what happened.

The president was, of course, not wearing a mask. He never does. Even when standing next to a bin full of hundreds of masks, in a mask manufacturing factory, he still managed not to wear one. And so, watching a clip of Trump being told how the mask works to prevent the spread of the deadly virus, it’s hard not to imagine he is off somewhere in his head, thinking about what he’s going to have for his dinner (that would be fries).

“Thats great, that’s great,” says Trump, as a Honeywell employee describes how the mask traps air particles. “How many do you make a day, Ryan?” he asks, breathing all over the bin full of masks.

They blasted “Live and Let Die” while Trump walked around a Honeywell plant today in Arizona without a mask. It’s hard to believe this clip is real. pic.twitter.com/M1dMe8KaMK

Then comes his movie moment. As if to let us know what’s been going on inside Trump’s head all this time, the song begins to blast:

If this ever-changin’ world

In which we live in

Makes you give in and cry

Say live and let die …”

Jimmy Kimmel couldn’t help but notice a metaphor in the moment.

I can think of no better metaphor for this presidency than Donald Trump not wearing a face mask to a face mask factory while the song “Live and Let Die” blares in the background. pic.twitter.com/mJzU1HW7HA

But the incident left some thinking Trump may have just found his 2020 election slogan.

Finally, an appropriate slogan.

Then, theories began circulating about the person who decided to play that song at that moment. Some thought it was Trump’s idea. Others put it down to a moment of pure genius.

Whoever had the balls to play Live and Let Die while Trump toured the mask factory can deejay any party I ever have for the rest of my life. https://t.co/PQv6gT5p5F

Others, meanwhile, imagined the explanation to be a touch more serendipitous.

I know people see this as some small act of rebellion, and maybe it was, but it’s just as likely they were listening to some “all rock, less talk” station called, like, 105.7 KROQ, THE BONE and it just happened to come on. https://t.co/1OweNiPZAU

May 6, 2020

We are yet to find out whether the soundtrack for Trump’s Honeywell visit was approved by the plant or Guns N’ Roses. The Guardian was redirected to the White House after contacting Honeywell for comment, meanwhile, Guns N’ Roses representatives are yet to respond. Guns N’ Roses’ frontman, Axl Rose, once requested that Trump stop playing their songs at his rallies. But then again, Rose has been vocal about his dismay over Trump’s response to the pandemic – so perhaps he’ll be pleased his lyrics at least made Trump look like an idiot this time round.

Q: If the Sheriffs can choose not to enforce the beach closures can the hospitals “choose” not to admit any possible Covid-19 suspected beach goers? Just askin’…🤔

May 2, 2020

Trump, of course, tweeted out his own video from the visit, sans metaphorical music but full of masked workers surrounding an administration that just doesn’t seem to care.

Live and let die, I guess.

” The global community can conquer the infection only if it can stay united and work together to make collective efforts,” Geng stated. “Attacking and discrediting other nations simply lose time and can not conserve lost lives.”

Geng stated that Americans ought to understand that the genuine opponent is COVID-19, not China.

” China has been assaulted by the infection and is likewise a victim of the infection,” he stated. “We are not the culprit, not the accomplice of the infection.”

China has actually been implicated of covering up what it learnt about the coronavirus and minimizing its intensity– a relocation lots of say turned a containable scenario into a pandemic that has actually closed down schools, businesses and even entire countries.

Geng’s comments begin the heels of at least seven class action claims submitted in U.S. federal court against China related to coronavirus. 5 of the suits do not seek a particular quantity of money or damages. One, nevertheless, desires China to shell out $20 trillion, while another wants $8 trillion.

One lawsuit, filed last month by a personal injury law office in Boca Raton, Fla., wants to “make China spend for what they have actually done” and accuses the country of acting “negligently in their handling of the COVID-19 break out.”

The match also declares that Beijing knew that “COVID-19 threatened and efficient in causing a pandemic, yet slowly acted, proverbially put their head in the sand, and/or covered it up in their own economic self-interest.”

Jeremy Alters, the chief strategist and non-attorney spokesman for Berman, informed Fox News that the suit is “an undertaking versus a world superpower who has the ability to spend for what they have actually done.”

In another claim, conservative attorney Larry Klayman and his far-right D.C.-based group Flexibility Watch filed a grievance in Texas looking for $20 trillion from China for its “callous and reckless indifference and malicious acts.” Klayman declares the Chinese government developed the virus as a bioweapon to release on the world– a claim that has actually been exposed by the U.S. armed force, the government, intelligence sources and researchers worldwide.

On April 8, a group of small companies in California submitted their claim versus China, the City of Wuhan and the nation’s Health Commission. The plaintiffs, that include Cardiff Eminence Property, Little Saigon Chamber of Commerce, First Premier X, claim China called early as mid-November that they were handling a brand-new and lethal infection however selected to keep it under covers and later tried to cover its tracks.

On Monday, Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., said told Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom” that he is working on legislation that will “open American courts to all the victims of the virus so they can sue Chinese officials. We can impose sanctions on Chinese who were involved in this coverup.”

The frenzy around the suits come as individuals around the world ended up being disappointed with an infection that has actually worked its way into nearly every corner of life.

Over the weekend, President Trump stated the U.S. was talking with China about sending out a team of specialists to the nation to examine claims that Beijing understood more than it was letting on. Donald Trump has been implicated of using another White House coronavirus job force briefing to broadcast a “project advertisement” in which New York Guv Andrew Cuomo, one of his most trenchant critics, appeared to shower him with praise.

The United States president dimmed the lights and played two selectively edited videos on screens behind the rundown room podium featuring Cuomo, whose state has been hardest struck by the lethal pandemic.

” What the federal government did, dealing with states … was a sensational achievement,” the governor said in the very first clip. “These were just amazing efforts and acts of mobilisation, and the federal government stepped up and was a great partner, and I’m the very first to say it. We needed help and they were there.”

But the movies were played simply two days after Cuomo, who has emerged as one of the most prominent Democrats throughout the crisis, eviscerated Trump in scathing 15- minute remarks. “To start with, if he’s sitting house watching TELEVISION, maybe he should get up and go to work, right,” he informed press reporters on Friday. “Second, let’s keep emotion and politics out of this and personal ego if we can because this is about the people and our job and let’s attempt to concentrate on that.”

Cuomo acknowledged that Trump had moved quickly to increase health center capability, however said he was incorrect to declare the city’s Javits Center, a convention facility transformed to a medical facility, had not been utilized, pointing out that 800 people had gone through. The forecasted variety of patients “were the president’s projections”, he added.

Exasperated, Cuomo went on: “The president doesn’t want to help on screening. I stated 11 times, I stated the one issue we need aid with is testing. He said 11 times: ‘I do not want to get associated with testing, it’s too complicated, it’s too hard.’ I know it’s too complicated and too tough. That’s why we need aid. I can’t do a global supply chain.

” He wants to state: ‘Well I did enough.’ Yeah, none people have done enough. We have not, because it’s not over … We have a lot more to do and nobody can do the posture of ‘Simply say thank you for what I’ve done, and I’m now out, I’m refraining from doing anything else. I’ve done my part.'”

The set of New Yorkers exchanged barbs on Twitter however, at Sunday’s rundown, Trump was only eager to indulge in Cuomo’s praise. After the first video was revealed, he scolded his personnel: “They left out the good part. Excellent task, fellas … You want to put the rest of it up, or do you not have it?”

He added: “I simply think it’s so helpful for people since it’s bipartisan. This is not about Democrats, Republicans. This is about a thing that hit our country, the similarity which has actually never occurred to us before.”

The second clip was appropriately played later in the instruction. And earlier Trump had actually checked out aloud from a Wall Street Journal column applauding him. A CNN reporter asked, with more than 22 million Americans out of work and the death toll now above 40,000, “is this really the time for self-congratulations?”.

Trump answered back: “You’re CNN, you’re phony news … You don’t have the brains you were born with.”

Media reports suggest Trump is ready to shift from crisis mode to a brand-new stage concentrated on financial recovery and his re-election.

For his part, Cuomo provided two pointed tweets on Sunday night. One stated: “‘ Everyone is entitled to his own viewpoint, however not his own truths.’– Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan.” The other thanked health care, healthcare facility and nursing home workers, and stated: “You are heroes. #NewYorkTough.”

Trump’s publicity stunt also drew direct criticism. Walter Shaub, director of the Workplace of Government Ethics, tweeted: “Beyond being another taxpayer-funded project ad, this video also makes Trump look exceptionally weak. The video casts Cuomo as Trump’s manager providing him a performance appraisal. (If just!).”

The president likewise looked for to minimize the nationwide testing lack, in spite of guvs’ problems that they lack adequate capability to securely reopen their economies. And he ended up being visibly angry when questioned why he had actually still been holding project rallies in February instead of alerting Americans about the virus.

Challenged repeatedly by Weijia Jiang of CBS News, he required: “Who are you with? … nice and easy, nice and simple, simply relax … Keep your voice down, please. Keep your voice down.” Touting his partial travel restrictions on China, he firmly insisted: “You need to state, ‘Thank you very much for great judgment.'”

Away from the virus, Trump was questioned on whether he would think about pardoning allies Michael Flynn and Roger Stone, who were captured in the justice department’s Russia examination. “The top of the FBI was scum,” he grumbled bitterly. “They’re human residue.”
