The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services is reporting Wednesday 20 more Alaskans tested positive for COVID-19.
The new cases were found in 13 communities: two in Anchorage, six in Fairbanks, two in Palmer, one in Chugiak, one in Eagle River, one in Homer, one in Juneau, one in Ketchikan, one in Kodiak, one in North Slope Borough, one in Sitka, one in Soldotna and one in Wrangell.
The cases for Fairbanks are the first reported cases of COVID-19 for Fort Wainwright.
Five more nonresidents also tested positive, bringing the total number of nonresident cases to 82. Three of the new cases in nonresidents were found in the mining industry, one in the seafood industry and one in an unspecified industry.
Since the outbreak began, 696 Alaskans have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and 438 have recovered. There are 246 active cases among Alaskans.
Twelve Alaskans’ deaths have been attributed to COVID-19.
