President Trump<\/a> attacked rival Joseph R. Biden<\/a> on Friday at a forum on Venezuela<\/a>, saying \u201cnobody will be safe in a Biden America\u201d because the Democrat would hand over the country to a \u201csocialist mob.\u201d<\/p>\n

Saying that many people in Venezuela<\/a> and central America have fled failed socialist countries for the U.S., the president said \u201cJoe Biden<\/a> and the radical left are trying to impose the same system, socialism-plus, in America.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBiden<\/a> is a puppet of Bernie Sanders, AOC and the militant left,\u201d Mr. Trump<\/a> said, referring to liberal Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York. \u201cThe people that want to rip down statues and monuments to George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, Jesus \u2014 they want to rip down statues to Jesus.\u201d<\/p>\n

Accusing Mr. Biden<\/a> of siding with leftists who want to defund police departments, Mr. Trump<\/a> said, \u201cNobody will be safe in a Biden America, but Biden<\/a> doesn\u2019t know what a Biden America is.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you ask him to define it, he wouldn\u2019t even know what it is, but other people do,\u201d the president said. \u201cBiden<\/a> wants to defund the police. He wants to call the cops the enemy, which he did the other day, leaving every citizen at the mercy of a socialist mob, or a mob far worse than socialism was ever meant to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said of the movement on the left, \u201cwe\u2019re dealing with a group of people that \u2014 they will not win. It will not win at all. But this election coming up is a very important one.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seeming to refer to his trailing Mr. Biden<\/a> in public polls, Mr. Trump<\/a> said, \u201cI\u2019m fighting against this horrible situation, I\u2019m fighting and I\u2019m fighting hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI want the Republicans to get strong and tough, and I want people that agree with me on the Democrat side, of which there are many,\u201d the president said. \u201cI think we\u2019re gonna have a tremendous Democrat surge.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said he is doing well \u201cin the real polls.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe reviewed polls this morning, with different states,\u201d Mr. Trump<\/a> said. \u201cWe\u2019re doing very well, by the way, in the state of Florida.\u201d<\/p>\n

The president said Mr. Biden<\/a> \u201cwill have radical people\u201d running his administration, and that even his eventual running mate \u201cwon\u2019t have as much to do with running the country as you believe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Biden<\/a> called Mr. Trump<\/a>\u2019s trip to Florida \u201ca photo-op and a distraction from his failures\u201d during the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust like his response to this pandemic, the president has been unreliable and self-centered in his approach to the issues closest to the Venezuelan people,\u201d Mr. Biden<\/a> said in a statement. \u201cAs president, I promise to take real action to help the Venezuelan people by granting Temporary Protected Status to Venezuelans already in the United States, leading an international response to address the humanitarian situation affecting millions of Venezuelans, targeting government officials and their cronies involved in corruption and human rights abuses, and restoring democracy in Venezuela<\/a> and aiding in the country\u2019s long-term recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n
