The CDC lists 11 coronavirus symptoms.CDC

Three additional coronavirus symptoms have been added to the Centers for Disease Control list.

The CDC now list 11 COVID symptoms but cautions that not every patient experiences all the symptoms. The symptoms are:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Congestion or runny nose, nausea and diarrhea are the most-recent additions to the list of symptoms. The original symptoms listed by the CDC were fever, cough and shortness of breath. The agency later added chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat and new loss of taste or smell.

According to the CDC, people with COVID-19 have a wide range of symptoms that appear to 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Older adults and those with underlying medical conditions appear to be at higher risk of developing more serious complications from the virus.

To protect yourself from coronavirus, it’s recommended people:

  • Wash their hands often or use a hand sanitizer with at least 60 percent alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with someone who is sick.
  • Stay at home as much as possible.
  • Put distance between yourself and other people.
  • Wear a cloth face covering when you go out in public.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces.
