Mississippi reports second pediatric flu death of season
Mississippi health officials announced the state’s second pediatric flu death of the 2020 season.The death, which was reported Wednesday, was that of a child from central Mississippi who died in March, but was previously unreported, according to officials with the Mississippi State Department of Health.The first pediatric flu death of this year was reported last week. That child was also from central Mississippi, health officials said. “Flu deaths can be prevented by getting the flu vaccine. It can also lessen the severity of the illness and risk of complications if you do get the flu,” said state health officer Dr. Thomas Dobbs.
