Senior residents are among the most vulnerable to the lethal COVID-19 contagion. As more and more cases have emerged, physicians have discovered that coronavirus symptoms in senior citizens look really different than they do in other patients.\n<\/p>\n

The reason why coronavirus signs are different for seniors involves how aging bodies respond to illness and infection. Joseph Ouslander<\/strong>, MD, teacher of geriatric medication at Florida Atlantic University, told Kaiser Health that, at advanced ages, “someone’s immune reaction might be blunted and their ability to manage temperature level might be altered.” He included that “some older people, whether from age-related changes or previous neurologic issues such as a stroke, may have modified cough reflexes. Others with cognitive disability may not be able to interact their symptoms.”<\/p>\n
