An 8-year-old girl and two adults were found dead Monday in a swimming pool at a home in East Brunswick, authorities confirmed.
“This is a devastating day for our entire community. It is too early to determine exactly what happened,” East Brunswick Police Chief Frank Losacco said.
In addition to the child, the adults who died were identified as the girl’s 32-year-old mother and a 62-year-old man, also a family member, police said Monday night. The three people all lived together at the home where they were discovered on Clearview Road. The cause of the deaths remained under investigation.
Township police were working with the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, according to the chief.
A prosecutor’s office spokeswoman confirmed investigators with the agency were responding to the scene on Clearview Road, but did not provide more information. Officials were expected to release more details later.
