The Big Apple’s coronavirus death toll has surpassed 20,000 — a staggering tally that’s thousands more than any other city on Earth.

A total of 20,056 people in New York City have died as a result of the contagion as of Monday night, data from the city’s Department of Health shows.

That count includes 14,928 confirmed COVID-19 fatalities and 5,128 “probable” deaths, according to the data.

Those ranked in the probable category exhibited telltale signs of the bug, but were not officially tested.

In New York state, a total of 21,764 people succumbed to the virus as of Monday, according to state statistics.

New York City has had more coronavirus-related deaths than any of the cities in the hardest-hit countries worldwide, such as the UK, Italy, Spain and France.

Italy’s northern region of Lombardy — the hardest-hit in that country — suffered more than 14,000 fatalities from the virus, accounting for nearly half of the country’s death toll, which was approaching 31,000 as of Tuesday, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University.
