2,977 deaths, 35,291 cases of coronavirus validated in Michigan

( WXYZ)– There are now 2,977 deaths and 35,291 cases of coronavirus in Michigan, according to new numbers released by the state on Thursday afternoon.

That’s up 1,325 cases and 164 deaths from 2,813 deaths and 33,966 cases, which were revealed on Wednesday.

Detroit and Wayne County still have the highest number of cases in the state, followed by Oakland and Macomb counties.

While Michigan has actually fallen out of the top 5 in the number of cases, it still ranks 3rd in the variety of deaths behind New york city and New Jersey, according to the current numbers from the Centers for Illness Control and Avoidance.

The state said 3,237 individuals have recovered from the virus. The recovery numbers are updated every Saturday. The state specifies recovery as the number of individuals with a verified COVID-19 medical diagnosis who are alive 30 days after start.
