Coronavirus: More than 20,000 tests have been conducted in Orange County as of April 22

The Orange County Health Care Agency reported 1,753 confirmed cases of the coronavirus as of Wednesday, April 22. One new death was reported, raising the total number of people who have died to 34 in the county.

There were 67 new cases of the virus reported as of Wednesday.

The daily update noted another 662 people have been tested in the county for the coronavirus. The total number of people tested in Orange County is 20,145 – that works out to about 62.6 residents per 10,000. Orange County has more than 3.2 million people.

On Tuesday, San Diego County with a population of about 3.3 million had 2,325 cases and 72 deaths reported. Los Angeles County with 10 million people had 15,140 cases and 663 reported deaths.

The number of people reported hospitalized in Orange County by the coronavirus was 162 on Tuesday; 70 of those required treatment in intensive care units.
